Fall Romance Recommendations (and a Peek at My Fall TBR)

Arguably, some would say fall is the best season for reading. Maybe it’s because of the chill in the air, the changing color of the leaves, the warm drinks, or the cozy blankets, but whatever the reason is I definitely agree. Fall is a time that inspires a lot of people to pick up a book and get lost in a story. As someone who reads A LOT of romance books, fall means I dive into more witchy/fantasy related romances or sometimes into the world of dark romance, which is why I have come up with a list of my fall romance recommendations.

Fall Romance Recommendations

My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine

If you are looking for a “classic” silly little romance book that will just make you giggle, this book is perfect. Cassie is a struggling artist on the brink of eviction when she finds a two-hundred dollar a month craigslist roommate apartment listing that feels like both a miracle and a red flag. However, without many options left she decides to give this place a chance. With a roommate who is insanely attractive, sleeps all day, and speaks like a regency romance hero, things seem to be great until she comes home one night to find blood bags in the fridge… This book is so funny, wholesome, and charming. With a vampire main character that is adorably funny and totally swoon worthy this book is an amazing cozy fall romance read.

Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

This fantasy rivals-to-lovers book is not only amazingly written but will also leave you a mess of emotions. The first installment of the Letter of Enchantment duology follows Iris, a young journalist who is fighting to prove her worth in her new job as she tries to not worry too much about her brother, who is off fighting at the magical war the gods started. To help herself cope, she writes him letters with the typewriter her grandmother left her. However, when the letter she writes vanishes the last place she expects them to end up is in the hands of her rival journalist, Kitt. It’s safe to say that this book left a hole in my heart and I can’t wait to read the second book. With beautiful and amazing world building and characters you easily feel connected to, this book is a new favorite.

Wildfire by Hannah Grace

This book was so FUN & ADORABLE!! Wildfire is a cozy read for cuddling with a blanket and drinking hot chocolate. Aurora and Russ have to work together at a stay away summer camp after having an amazing one night stand. This book is filled with wholesome characters, puppies, and the found family that makes you feel safe and comforted. The plot was fun, clever, and engaging and I found myself thinking about this book and the characters every single time I put it down.

As someone who loved Icebreaker, it’s safe to say Hannah Grace did it again. I had the best time reading it; I laughed, giggled, and kicked my feet so much.

Crossed by Emily Mcintire

The fifth installment of the Never After series is inspired by Esmeralda and Claude Frollo of the hunchback of Notre Dame. This dark romance is twisted and very spicy. When Father Cade is sent to the town of Festivale to rid it of evil, the last thing he expects is to find himself ensnared by Amaya’s beauty and caring nature. She becomes his biggest weakness and he is her demise. This fractured fairytale is perfect for people who love to see the villain get the girl. Emily Mcintire definitely knows how to write a villain that will leave you both bewildered and enthralled. This fun, dark romance is perfect for the spooky vibes that fall brings.

The Modern Girl’s Guide to Magic by Linsey Hall

This fun lighthearted romantic comedy is full of magic, shenanigans, and love. Aria is a mess when it comes to her magical abilities. But, when her grandmother asks for her help to save the family shop she can’t say no. Now she finds herself spending more time than she wants to with Callan Hawthorn during the competition that will help save her family shop. This is another cute cozy romance novel with a sprinkle of magic on top.

The Witches of Thistle Grove series by Lana Harper

The Witches of Thistle Grove series is one of my favorite magical witchy series!

The vibes in all of these books are amazing and all of the characters are so unique and comforting that you can't help wishing you could be part of the universe. Each book focuses on a different couple and they all feature different tropes. The first book of the series, Payback’s a Witch, follows three witches: Emily, Talia, and Liden, as they get revenge on the man that broke all of their hearts. However, things get complicated when Emily can’t stop thinking about the beautiful and powerful Talia Avramov. This magical steamy series will make you wish you had magical powers of your own.

Honorable Mentions

Some of my Fall TBR

Personally this fall I have a long list of books on my TBR. From romance books with witches, wolves, or vampires to new releases, I have anxiously been waiting for books a little outside of my comfort zone with perfect fall vibes.

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

While this fantasy book has been out for some time I wanted to wait until the leaves were changing colors to pick it up. Cambridge professor, Emily, journeys to a small town to study faerie folklore. A book filled with family, friendship, love and magic. As someone who loves all things magic and faeries I am very excited to dive into this world.

Hopeless by Elsie Silver

The last installment of the Chestnut Spring series is a book I have been very excited to get my hands on. This small town romance series is one of my favorites and with the last book coming out on October 13, I can’t wait to dive into it. With a fake marriage between Beau, the town prince, and Bailey, a bartender from the wrong side of the tracks, things will get messy and spicy.

Walking Practice by Dolki Min

When an alien who can transform his appearance to hunt for food has an existential crisis about the meaning of being human, this physiological thriller promises to be a clever journey. As someone who has never read horror before I am really intrigued by this book and the fall time seems like the best time to read it.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

This dark academia fantasy book has the perfect fall vibes. When Alex gets the chance to go to Yale and watch over the secret societies she doesn't expect their activities to be as sinister and extraordinary as they are.

Wolf Gone Wild by Juliette Cross

When Mateo, a werewolf, worries he’s cursed because he hasn't been able to shift for three months, he seeks the help of a powerful witch, Evie. This forbidden love story seems to be packed with magical vibes and amazing tension which is everything I want for this fall season.

The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic by Breanne Randall

This book is recommended for fans of Gilmore Girls which means I immediately added it to my fall TBR. Sadie has to go back to her hometown after she finds out her grandma is dying of cancer. With family secrets that threaten everything she knows and old feelings rekindling she must decide, is love more important than magic?

Happy fall reading! <3
